Humans vs Harper

Who Are We?

We are three old feminists who despise Stephen Harper and all he stands for. We have had it with his remake of the Canadian agenda.

We don’t want a Canada where the highest value is “me first” and the most important goal is to make lots of money and avoid taxes.  We care about those who are less well off, about rights and justice, about healthy communities, and about the stewardship of our environment.

We see Stephen Harper as the quintessential emperor with no clothes—an archetypal, extreme right-wing politician whose greatest accomplishment has been to fool Canadians into thinking he offers foresight, integrity, and economic competence.

At Humans vs Harper, we intend to show Harper for what he truly is—a vain and prideful fool, so deeply insecure that there is no limit to what he will do to maintain control and power.

  1. So OK I am totally stoked! A friend posted your blog on FB and I got a rush. You’re saying what I’ve been saying forever! Only you’ve said it succinctly and with yummy feminist zest! I’m an old feminist too and I’m bowing down to you (albeit slowly). Thank you very much!!!
I agree with you bluelein, Harper is delusional and he is brilliant (my word). Saying he’s brilliant isn’t giving him credit. It’s driving into the earth a GIGANTIC RED (or blue~whatever your preference) FLAG and saying public BEWARE!!! He’s a misogynistic Dick Tator (thanks for that bluelein…it’s a beautiful thing). Anyhow I signed on with SumOfUs to do whatever it takes to help organize Canadians to vote strategically. Whatever needs to be done I’m here/there.

  2. Don’t have a sympathetic anion in my body for him. I find referring to him as Dick Tater is more appropriate even than Der Leader; if you agree, feel free to use it. Dick Tater is stuck in some Fifties/early Sixties (before the ‘hippies’) construct that never bore any relation to reality and that was fuelled by his sense of inadequacy when he attended Richview Collegiate – where some students (but not Dick Tater) arrived in chauffeured limousines.

At the same time that he wants to be part of the upper 1% he knows he never will be and so he despises them even as he worships them. He clearly doesn’t want to be poor or on the street, so he despises them and tries to pretend they aren’t there. And he doesn’t want to be part of the middle class, which he despises so much he is trying to eradicate it. The man is delusional and driven by petty hatreds. He also is very smart, so he is doubly dangerous – probably knows Machiavelli by heart. Never, never count him out until he’s in a heap on the floor or out on his arse. We all know what steps he will take to cling to power, if he has to.
