Are You Eligible for Harper’s Enemies’ List?

Harper's Enemies ListThe election’s been called. Harper’s dusting off his old list. You can get on the list too.

  • If you have ever protested against the Harper government, you are eligible.

  • If you have ever cursed Harper, you are eligible.
  • If you have ever criticized Harper in public, you are eligible.
  • If you have ever thought bad thoughts about Harper, you are eligible.
  • If you have written – or read – an anti-Harper blog, you are eligible.

You’ll be in very good company, according to Andrew Coyne. Besides the obvious suspects – the Opposition and the bureaucracy – Harper’s Enemies’ List includes:

  • the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
  • the Auditor General
  • Elections Canada
  • the Parliamentary Budget Officer
  • the former Head of Statistics Canada
  • the Premiers
  • the Senate
  • the Ethics Commissioner
  • Elections Canada,
  • the Wheat Board
  • all scientists
  • all environmentalists.

We would add all Aboriginal Peoples, working parents, and unionized employees.

  1. Oh I want to be on it – all my friends will be for sure! Of course, if I buy into modern paranoia and believe even half of what I hear about spying and invasion of privacy by the internet – I already am on it! So if we get rid of him by voting, does the list go away?
